Today, for Christmas, my father offered me the camera mostly used by his grandfather.
It is a Verascope Richard, made in 1913, with Tessar Zeiss f55 stereoscopic lenses. In an advertisement found on the net, it was written:
” recommended for travels in the colonies and hot and humid countries”.
My grandfather never traveled very far. He was a scientist and his passion was photography. In the following picture, he made a photo of himself, with this camera, in front of the pharmacy of my grandparents, in Mazargues (a place in Marseilles) the days surrounding my father’s birth.
